An eye for an eye

What's the difference between progressives and conservatives?

A few years with the conservatives being dragged by tooth and nail into the last century. About three thousand years ago the rule in tribe warfare in the Middle East where the avenging sky God was born was you kill my brother, I have to kill your brother and your cousin and next you have to kill four of my tribe and eventually both tribes would be decimated.

So the great king Hammurabi wrote in his code, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth." This was a progressive rule saying that we do not need to escalate conflicts but should seek peace. The code of Hammurabi was copied by the Hebrews and ended up in the Bible. However, that was progressive for three thousand years ago and is damned stupid for now.

So the followers of the single Abrahamic religion with its three branches (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) take revenge on each other and in fact they have reverted to the old fashion warfare of more and more revenge killing and ethnic cleansing (just read the old testament).

An eye for an eye is not working. It only helps the extremists. Perhaps its time for someone to turn the other cheek. Tomorrow (January 15) happens to be my birthday which means nothing. It is also the birthday of Martin Luther King. It's time that Israel or Palestine found a hero like MLK.
